Natural Amber – Natural Baltic Amber

• Color: Natural Baltic Amber is available in radiant honey colour, yellow, deep brown, red, lemon, cream and even a wonderful white.
• Origin: Baltic countries. The Baltic region is home to the largest known deposit of amber, called Baltic amber. The Burmese amber is said to be hardest and the Dominican, the softest. Baltic amber is yellow, Sicilian is reddish yellow, Rumanian is brown and Burmese is yellow to reddish-brown
• Chemical Composition: Amber is a HydroCarbon. C10H16O (HydroCarbon). It is a complex mixture and also contains some amount of hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
• Cut: Baguette Cabochon, Beads, Heart Cabochon, Marquise Cabochon, Oval Cabochon, Pear Cabochon, Round Cabochon, Square Cabochon, Trillion Cabochon cuts.

Formation:

Natural Baltic Amber is fossilized sap from prehistoric trees that grew as far back as almost fifty million years ago.

Treatment:

To simulate the heat-treated varieties, raw Baltic amber specimens was chose and performed a series of heating experiments at an anonymous processing facility. We succeeded in producing a full range of heated amber varieties, including golden, red, flower, and beeswax. These experiments yielded useful information about procedures, conditions, and influencing factors for heat treatment. The gemmological parameters and inclusion characteristics may provide valuable references for the identification of heat-treated amber.

Unusual Properties:

Amber releases its healing oils into the body when it heats up from contact with our skin. The remarkable health benefits of amber are attributed to its unique ingredient, succinic acid. As much as 3% to 8% – the largest quantity found anywhere in nature. Baltic amber healing jewellery is an excellent pain relief for head, neck and throat areas, especially for congestion.
